A few days after Christmas my mom and I drove down to Big Cedar Lodge for the afternoon. I read they were hosting a winter wonderland theme and I knew it would be something fun to check out while I was home for the holidays. Big Cedar is a rustic lodge resort that has tons of outdoor activities year round that are suited for everyone from the relaxer to the outdoor enthusiast. The activities vary from season to season and include a luxury spa, an elite golf course at Top of the Rock, a variety of fitness classes, horseback riding, a shooting academy, ski school, guided fishing and tons of activities fit for kids. During December they host tons of winter wonderland activities to embrace the outdoors during the cooler months. They had a large ice rink with endless string lights dancing all around, crackling fire pits for s’more making and Toasty’s airstream serving up piping hot apple cider, hot chocolate and lattes to keep warm. During the summer season Toasty’s becomes Frosty’s serving up popsicles and ice cold items to keep cool after partaking in all the lakeside activities. We had a great time adventuring even if it was only for the afternoon! Next year we will definitely have to check out the winter wonderland again.
With the current weather conditions being unseasonably warm it’s hard to believe that we were actually pretty cold and were anxiously awaiting for Toasty’s to open! We waited for the temps be above 30 degrees since the day before it didn’t get above 12 degrees! I attempted to layer on a few layers with my scarf, sweater, coat and a pair of fuzzy earmuffs.
