STARTING THE YEAR OFF RIGHT
LOCATION: Fort Worth, TX • January 2, 2018
Happy New Year! I had every intention of writing a reflection post to wrap of 2017 but after multiple drafts decided to forego and focus on a positive of fresh start of a new year and new beginnings in 2018! A fresh start allows for a fresh perspective and new adventures for the next 364 days. Instead of setting out to accomplish new years resolutions that fizzle out after the first few weeks, I’m setting new intentions and with those intentions come simple steps to fulfill each one. One intention being making myself and my health a priority again. Both my mental and physical health are important and in order to focus on these I’ve already put in place some practices that will jump start my intentions to start the year off right. One of these practices being a weekly running schedule that will prepare me both physically and mentally for my second half marathon coming up in March. I’ve even rallied my family into joining in over the holiday break so both my parents, my grandma and my aunt are all training with me, which is awesome! They are following this walking schedule for the next twelve weeks and I’ll be following this running schedule so feel free to follow along, the program is completely free! I actually used this program for my first half marathon a few years ago and felt like it was a great starting point for me since I’m not an avid runner.
I know fitness goals can be cliche this time of year but I’m not making a goal to be “X” size or lose “X” amount of weight, my only intentions are to simply make my health a priority by starting a regular fitness program. Not only will this help me ease into creating a regular habit but it will also bleed over into my mental health and awareness. Whatever intentions you choose to set this new year be sure you are taking the necessary steps to follow through! Happy New Year!
