Over the past year or so I’ve slowly lightened my hair creating a balayage look that can get me closer to my natural medium brown hair color. I’ve been loving my lighter locks but it has created a new challenge for me, which is how to keep them fresh and vibrant in between salon visits. With coloring my hair, it tends to add to my already dry locks. You can try to avoid washing your hair everyday which I do or I’ll use a rinse and condition routine after the gym. Even if your hair is normal to oily, it doesn’t help to strip all the oils from the hair by over-washing, this actually encourages hair to produce even more oil to compensate for the loss! So today I’m sharing a few tips and tricks that will keep hair looking great in-between salon visits and keep your hair soft and silky as well! One way is to try a purple shampoo like R+Co Sunset Blvd Blonde Shampoo and conditioner treatment. While some cool toned blondes swear by purple shampoo treatments I’ve never had great results since the base of my hair is still brunette. It wasn’t until I tried dpHUE Color Boosting Gloss + Deep Conditioner that I saw the results I was looking for. The dpHUE Color Boosting Gloss is a semi-permanent hair color with deep conditioner that refreshes my golden color and softens, shines and gives my hair a more vibrant look. It intensifies and illuminates color-treated or natural hair in as little as three to 20 minutes with no ammonia and no mixing! I started out just treating my hair for 5 minutes in the shower while I wash, shave and rinse. As I extended the number of weeks in-between salon visits I’ve began to lengthened my treatment times as well to keep my hair vibrant and soft before heading back to the salon. I’ve listed a few more tips below to keep your hair healthy and beautiful in-between washes and salon visits!
Tip 2 – Use a dry shampoo in-bewteen washes, be sure to spray a few inches from your roots.
Tip 3 – Let the dry shampoo sit on hair for a minute or two to absorb excess oil.
Tip 4 – Tilt head down and toss hair with fingers to keep oils from sticking to the scalp and distribute the dry shampoo evenly.
Tip 5 – Use dpHUE Gloss + Deep Conditioner once weekly to hair fresh in-between salon visits.
